Hurricane Turn Train (1st Thurs each month September 2009 - May 2010 )

The Winter Hurricane Turn Train operates the first Thursday of each month from October through May. Like the Aurora Winter Train, the Winter Hurricane Turn is a flagstop train, and due to the nature of the service, the schedule varies depending on the number of stops.

Alaska Rail Road - Terms and Conditions

LATE BOOKINGS: Package bookings that are made within 35 days require a minimum of 24 hours to confirm availability. Full payment is required at the time of booking.

REFUNDS: Rail-only bookings that are cancelled eight or more days before travel will be refunded less 10% of the booking value. No refunds will be issued seven days or less before travel.

CHANGE FEES: Changes are allowed on packages up to 36 days before travel and on rail-only bookings up to eight days prior to travel.

A 10% fee will be applied to changes made to paid bookings. Change fees apply only to the changed value of the booking.

CHECK-IN: One hour prior to the scheduled departure time. Reservations and seat assignments may be altered or reassigned if passenger and baggage are not checked in 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure. The Transportation Security Administration requires that any Alaska Railroad passenger 18 years of age or older present a government issued photo ID, or two other forms of ID, one of which must be issued by a government authority. Children ages 2-15 may only travel in the company of an adult 18 years or older.

BAGGAGE: Alaska Railroad passengers are allowed two pieces of checked baggage and one carry-on. Two extra pieces of baggage (for a total of four) may be checked for an additional fee. No single piece may weigh over 50 lbs. A special handling fee of $20 per bag applies to oversized bags, bicycles, and other recreational equipment. Firearms must be either disassembled (slide or bolt removed) or have a lock (trigger or cable type) installed to prevent operation, and must be in a locked case. Concealed weapons are not permitted onboard. Camping fuel, motor fuel and other hazardous items are not permitted on the Alaska Railroad. Animals must be transported in kennels in the baggage car.

SCHEDULES AND FARES: Delays can occur with rail service. We recommend that you do not book your rail arrival and air departure on the same day. The Alaska Railroad will not be responsible for missed connections. Schedules, fares, and tours are subject to change without notice.

ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION: The Alaska Railroad will provide the best alternate service available in the event of unforeseen circumstances that may require any part of our service to be altered.

ACCESSIBILITY: We are pleased to provide wheelchair lifts at all stations. Accessibility on other connecting modes of transport can vary, so please check with an agent for details. Alaska Railroad’s passenger trains are wheelchair accessible and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Registered service animals are welcome aboard.
